Goal Setting – Your Mind’s Eye

Having goals in life means thinking about what you want and where you want to see yourself in the future. Once you have thought about your goals, you need to focus and start working on them.

These simple guidelines can help you on setting and achieving goals.

1. Start from simple and easy goals. Doing this builds your self confidence and prepares you to work on your next and probably more complex ones.

Here’s how to commit you can your goals:

1) First make sure that every goal you set is of truly important to you. This can be difficult because we so often don’t know what we want. We convince ourselves that we want one thing when we want something entirely different. You need be sure that you get to the heart of what you really want. Why do you want it? What will it do for you? What positive things will occur in your life? How will it help you? How will it make you feel when it’s accomplished?

Write these things down and think deeply about them. Once you are confident that these goals are important keep it handy so you can refer to it as often as necessary if you feel like giving up on your goal. Decide whether your goal is worth making personal effort and sacrifice that will be needed to achieve it. If you think it does you are 75% on the way to achievement.

People call it “Carrot and Stick“.

3) Every day, renew your commitment by reading your goals. It’s easy to complete a goal when your motivation is high, but you need to be able to focused and committed. Each day when you wake up read through the goal you wrote down and remind yourself of how important these goals are to you. Affirm to yourself that you’re going to do as much as you can to achieve your goal every day until it happens.
